Anne Barge Bridal

Luxury bridal designer Anne Barge is known for her classic and timeless silhouettes. We like to share with you the story behind her success and inspirations in her own words.

My mother was an organ pianist and started taking me with her to ceremonies when I was barely three years old. I have one vivid memory of a wedding where the entire church was filled with gardenias. Watching the bride come down the aisle to the wedding march, smelling the sweet floral air, the whole experience was like a fairytale. It was then that I began to focus on my lifelong dream.

When I graduated from college, I worked as Jim Hjelm’s assistant at Priscilla of Boston. He is one of my oldest and dearest friends. As a retailer, I was one of Amsale’s first customers and we have stayed close family friends ever since. Beyond being great people, I think the two are both fabulous designers who have made enormous contributions to our industry.

The trend in bridal has definitely gone as low and as bare as it can in recent years. I predict the pendulum will swing back and designers will start to explore more conservative styles. My aesthetic will always be one of refinement; we interpret trends in a way that upholds our timeless and classic style.

Short and Sweet

You don’t have to go to great lengths to find a fantastic wedding dress. Although short style dresses tend to stray from the traditional princess ball gowns, many brides prefer to walk along the aisle with grace, yet carefree and without having to worry about being weighed down by lots of fabric.

Short wedding dresses can also be the best option for a beach or an outdoor wedding reception. It allows you to keep the tradition of wearing white yet giving you more freedom to move.

Most short wedding gowns come in lengths varying between mid thighs, above the knee and ‘midi and tea’ length. With a wide choice of fabrics and styles to choose from you can look chic and dazzling on your wedding day.

Vera Wang Spring 2015 Bridal Collection

The Vera Wang Spring 2015 bridal collection was Vera at her finest. Vera achieved a seductive and dramatic bridal look by releasing a short video instead of a live runway show. In a press release she explains that her intention is to reach a wider audience than she could with a catwalk presentation

“The opportunity to create a visual and expressive experience of the clothes, as interpreted by my fashion vision, is a whole new way for me to communicate with not only brides, but women everywhere,” she said. “In this instance, bridal becomes the artistic vehicle to advance my love of fashion in general. I hope you will enjoy this new experience.”

The lightness of being, delicate and discipline, sensual and seductive were the inspirations for the 2015 collection. The Vera Wang bride is as romantic as ever this season -princess and mermaid silhouettes as well as simpler column dress in lace and embroidered tulle. Overall the collection is the perfect blend of seductive beauty with a hint of mysterious elegance.

Carolina Herrera Spring 2015 Bridal Collection

The Carolina Herrera Spring 2015 Bridal collection reflects the softness and the grace of romantic and traditional embroidered wedding gowns. The main focus of the collection is on “ hidden luxuries” such as the embellished Chantilly lace covered with layers of transparent silk tulle or hand-embroidered motifs over silk chiffon. The collection was just what you would expect from the designer- elegant and feminine with an ethereal feel, while an element of surprise was found on the dramatic back of many dresses, which added a seductive beauty to the collection.

Herrera’s wedding gowns are for the classic bride who makes no excuse for wanting to look and feel like a princess on her wedding day.
